The short version
Your designs never leave your device unless you export or share them yourself. The app has no account, no login and no ads, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
Two things do leave the device: a purchase, when you make one, and diagnostics, on Android only and only if you say yes when asked.
Woodworking Designs (“the app”) is a woodworking plan designer for iOS and Android. This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not, and who else can see it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What the app stores on your device
Your plans, the parts and hardware in them, your notes, and your settings (units, theme, diagnostics choice). These live in the app’s own storage on your device. Deleting the app deletes them. They are not uploaded anywhere, and no one, including the developer, can read them remotely.
What leaves your device
Purchases
Buying the one-time Pro unlock is handled by Apple or Google, whichever store you bought from, and validated by RevenueCat, Inc., which acts as the developer’s service provider for purchase processing.
- What: the purchase transaction, the product identifier, the store, the country of the store account, an anonymous identifier for the installation, and basic device and app-version information.
- What not: your name, email address, or payment details. The developer never receives your card details. The stores handle payment entirely.
- Why: to unlock the paid features, to restore them on a new device, and to know whether an entitlement is still valid.
Diagnostics, only with your consent and only on Android
On iPhone and iPad the app sends no diagnostics at all. The only crash information the developer receives there is Apple’s own aggregated report from the App Store. The rest of this section applies to the Android app.
The app asks once whether it may send diagnostics. Until you answer, and forever after if you answer no, nothing is sent. You can change the answer at any time in Settings. Withdrawing consent stops collection immediately.
If you consent, the app sends the following to PostHog on its European Union infrastructure:
- Crash and error reports: the type of failure and the operation it
happened in (for example
export:PNG). Exception messages are deliberately stripped before sending, because a message can contain a file path or a plan name. - A small, fixed set of product events: that a plan was created or opened, that an export completed and in which format, that a hinge was attached, that the buy list was opened, that the tour was replayed, that a purchase was restored. Counts and format names only.
- App lifecycle: app started, foregrounded, backgrounded.
- Device and app context: device model, operating-system version, app version, locale, and an anonymous identifier for the installation.
The app deliberately disables PostHog’s automatic screen tracking and automatic UI capture, because those would record the labels of things you tap, and those labels include your plan and part names. Nothing about the content of your designs is ever collected: no plan names, no file paths, no note text, no dimensions.
What the app never collects
No name, email address, phone number, or account of any kind. No contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, camera, or precise location. No advertising identifier, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind.
Sharing
The app does not sell your data, and does not share it with third parties for advertising. The only recipients are the service providers above, RevenueCat for purchases and PostHog for consented diagnostics, each processing on the developer’s behalf, plus Apple or Google as the seller of record for a purchase.
Retention
Diagnostic events are retained by PostHog according to that project’s retention setting, and then deleted. Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat for as long as the entitlement may need to be restored, and as required by tax and accounting rules.
Your rights
Because there is no account, most data here is not linked to your identity. If you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). To exercise any of these, or to request deletion of diagnostic data associated with your installation, contact the address below. Deleting the app also stops all future collection.
The legal basis for diagnostics is your consent. For purchase processing it is performance of the contract to provide the features you bought.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be reflected here with a new effective date, and, where the change affects what is collected, surfaced in the app.
